Easter, foundational feast

The Easter of 1974 reunited almost 80 young people in a retreat of personal and communitarian prayer in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina.

That foundational retreat (Easter I), revealed to them the experience of spontaneous group prayer and the taste for the praise to God, leaving its seal of inner freedom, conversion and evangelical joy.

Since then, The Movement of the Word of God has celebrated Easter with different retreats and 'jornadas' (full day encounters) during Holy Thursday, Friday and Saturday, to which all are invited.

«We celebrate [Easter] as the origin and the goal of our existence. We celebrate it because now, thanks to the risen Lord, it is definitively established that reason is stronger than unreason, truth stronger than lies, love stronger than death» (Benedict XVI, 2011-04-23).

As God's gift, in the last Easter 2016, 70 open retreats were organized, attended by about 8,610 people, including more than 3,150 guests. Adding the children and adolescents, were attended by more than 10,600 people. There were 3 retreats in Peru, 2 in Uruguay, 2 in Ecuador, 1 in Paraguay, 1 in the United States, and 61 in Argentina.

The Retreat's motto is the same one in all the sites and marks the year's particular approach.

In 2016, XLIII Easter, the motto was:

Alliance with the Father
