 Pastoral prayer

Pastoral Branch

«When prayer is nourished by the Word of God, we can see reality with new eyes, the eyes of faith, and the Lord, who speaks to the mind and heart, sheds new light on the road at all times and in any situation. We believe in the power of the Word of God and of prayer» (Benedict XVI, 25/04/2012).

As a pastoral charism, The Movement of the Word of God develops the building up of praying, fraternal communities that intend to live the disciple dimension of the Gospel. The communities are organized in Pastoral Centers and receive young people and adults. Families integrate in the communities.

In these communities the laity develop their religiosity and civilizing commitment while they try to achieve holiness by evangelizing and civilizing society, through visits to hospitals and summer missions, for instance.

To this Branch belong also the Communitarian Process for Confirmation (CPC), the married couples dedicated to God, the particular consecration, and the Parochial Branch with the Santa Lucia and the Santisima Trinidad Parishes.

The Pastoral Centers

As a pastoral community, the Work is organized in Pastoral Centers. A Pastoral Center is:

• a place of evangelization where the commandment of Love is lived, forming disciples of Jesus.

• expression of the Church as People of God who, by means of disciple communities, seek to ally with those who are poor in spirit and in need of God.

• a community of smaller communities that, as lights shinining in the middle of towns, illuminate the darkness of environmental materialism.

• a "small stone" of community prayer with which the People of God can face and beat the Goliath of a disorientated and neopagan civilization.

«It is important that we Christians show that we live the faith in a concrete way, through love, harmony, joy, suffering, because this raises questions, as at the beginning of the journey of the Church: why do they live like that? What motivates them? These are questions that lead to the heart of evangelization, which is the testimony of faith and charity» (Francis, 14/10/2013).

The communitarian groups of prayer and service (as the groups of The Movement of the Word of God are called), follow a basic process over several years, divided in three stages, before they are constituted as a definitive community in the Movement. These communities do not live together, but they assemble regularly once a week to share their lives and meet God in community.
